The Grand Central Experience
The following are photographs taken on a recent visit to Birmingham. The Grand Central experience began with a train journey into Birmingham arriving at New Street Station where the platforms are still undergoing their make over. It will be interesting to see the platforms when completed and whether they still have the cramped underground feel of old. Designing a better school for children with special educational needs
Design work is underway for the refurbishment and extension of Victoria School in Northfield for pupils with cognition and learning needs including complex physical and health needs. Working closely with staff to develop the new proposals, the design provides an opportunity to improve the existing school including new-build classrooms and support spaces. The creative juices will be flowing as the project proceeds to the next stage on this challenging but rewarding journey.

Fleming James Architects win big at charity quiz....
Ian and Andy took part in The Big Music Quiz to raise money for the Make Some Noise charity at the Royal Hotel in Sutton Coldfield. Andy sucessfully won the bonus round taking home a bottle of bubbly (To be saved for an appropriate celebration).

Up with the sun..
Photographic commission of the new science extension at King Edward VI School Handsworth. The project was designed by ADP. The exterior shots were captured at sun rise to take advantage of the suns orientation which bathed the rear elevation in warm sun light before it is shaded by the adjacent library.
