Detailed design is currently underway for the refurbishment of a food technology facility at Victoria School and Specialist Arts College. The proposals have been designed working closely with staff at the school to ensure they meet the needs of the children.
The space is really important to the school as it provides a great resource and brings a lot of delight to the children.
Based on a perimeter room arrangement the design offers flexibility and allows varied and imaginative setting up of space and teaching scenarios plus life skills and independence learning. Access requirements and manoeuvrability have been carefully thought out, as have provision of changing facilities and storage requirements. ICT provision for current and future curriculum activities has also been considered.
The kitchen fit-out has been designed in conjunction wth the kitchen specialist to provide adjustable benching and adapted fittings to support life skills and pupils needs.
Works are due to start on site in the school summer holiday period to minimise disruption to the school.
